Terms you may come across:
Source Language – a language in which a text to be translated is written or in which a speech to be interpreted is spoken.
Target Language – Language into which a text is translated or interpreted. For example, if you need Chinese translation of an English document, Chinese is the source language and English is the target language.
Per-Word Rate – Standard method for assessing cost of a translation. At Asian Language Specialists, the rate is based on source text. For example in the case of English Chinese translation, the quotation is estimated according to English words or Chinese characters.
NAATI – NAATI is the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and interpreters. NAATI certification is required by most official documents translated. NAATI certified Chinese translation or other language translation is provided by NAATI Professional Translators. They work across a wide range of subjects and have a sound understanding of the material required to be translated.
